System FeaturesStrategic Operations Committee
Simcoe’s Strategic Operations Committee is the umbrella committee to which all other developmental service committees report. This committee, the most senior decision making level of the service system, has representation from the Ministry of Community and Social Services and all service stakeholders in the County. The committee’s mandate is to deal with both operational and planning priorities of the service system and make recommendations to MCSS around funding allocations and systemic service needs.
Service Coordination Committee
This committee’s primary responsibility is to prioritize and place all developmental service applicants in the system. Service Coordination Committee also reports to the Strategic Operations committee and makes recommendations around specified funding initiatives related mostly to accommodations and day program activities.
Strategic Advisory Committee
The Strategic Advisory Committee deals entirely with long term planning considerations ranging from the identification of needs and service gaps to the rationalization of the service infrastructure in Simcoe. This committee is responsible for developing a long-term plan for the Developmental Service system in the County, reviewing progress and adjusting annually. It will typically make recommendations to the Strategic Operations Committee on planning issues. The membership is broad and includes family volunteers, service agencies and several ancillary support providers in related sectors.
Dual Diagnosis Committee
The Dual Diagnosis Committee is a collaborative group focused on identifying service gaps specifically for people with Dual Diagnosis in Simcoe. The group is focused on sharing resources; training needs and best practices to enhance the capacity of service providers and families to meet the complex needs of those with a developmental disability as well as a mental diagnosis.
Transitional Aged Youth Committee
The mandate of the Transitional Aged Youth Committee is essentially to rationalize and optimize cross County delivery of services to young people in transition from school to work or from family home to more independent settings. This committee also makes recommendations to the Strategic Operations Committee around prioritization of service and distribution of resources for this select category of individuals.
